Cottage-Jessup-Park Improvements Moving Forward

HUNTINGTON – Cottage-Jessup-Park neighborhood improvements are moving forward, with the Board of Public Works & Safety awarding a construction contract this week to E&B Paving.

Next, schedules will be determined during pre-construction meetings between the City and E&B. Work is expected to begin by late summer.

Stormwater utilities will be upgraded to address longstanding drainage and flooding issues that residents of Cottage Avenue, Jessup Street and Park Street routinely experience.

Existing water mains also will be replaced, and sewer pipes in the area will be lined with an interior fiberglass casing to extend their lifespan.

In addition, the roads will be fully reconstructed and new sidewalks will be built.

The low project bid to complete the work totaled just less than $4.8 million. An Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs matching grant offsets about $600,000 of the project cost.
